About

I hold my work to the same standards I would expect from someone advising me: personal, transparent, and reliable.

I'm Kathi, originally from Germany, and I've called Puerto Escondido home since 2019. After spending my first year here, I divided my time between Germany and Mexico before moving back permanently to Puerto Escondido in 2022.

Who am I?

I speak German, English and Spanish fluently and have been working in (international) real estate since 2011.

Before moving to Mexico, I worked with leading international real estate companies including Engel & Völkers, Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), BNP Paribas Real Estate, and Colliers International. During those years I gained extensive experience advising both national and international clients on residential and commercial real estate. Since 2019, I have gained extensive local experience and become familiar with the real estate market, property structures, documentation, administrative processes, and the particularities of buying, selling, and managing property in the region.

How I ended up working in real estate in Puerto Escondido instead of keeping my remote job

When I moved to Puerto Escondido, more and more friends, acquaintances and eventually clients began asking me for advice about buying property in the area. They wanted someone who could explain the buying process, translate documents, accompany them to appointments, compare different properties, and help them understand how real estate works in Mexico. And, above all, someone they could trust when making such an important decision as buying a property of their own, as investment, for vacations or as new home.

What started as helping a few people quickly became my full-time profession.

Today I assist both Mexican and international clients in finding the right property, whether they are searching for a home, a vacation residence, an investment property, or land to build on. I also support property owners by managing a few selected vacation rentals and taking care of their homes while they are away.

Buying property in Puerto Escondido is very different from buying property in Germany or many other countries. I experienced that myself when I first arrived. There were processes, documents and legal concepts that were completely new to me, and I understand how overwhelming they can feel.

That personal experience, combined with more than a decade of international real estate experience and years of working alongside trusted real estate professionals and hand in hand with Madre Ceiba Real Estate in Puerto Escondido, allows me to guide my clients with confidence and transparency.

I believe buying property should feel exciting, not confusing. My goal is to help you understand every step of the process, answer your questions honestly, and find the property that truly fits your needs and goals.

I advise my clients the same way I would want someone to advise me.

What I am not

I am not a notario público and I am not a licensed attorney. When a matter needs one, I help you set up an appointment with the right professional and if required, stay with you through the meeting, so you understand what is being signed.

I also do not list properties I have not looked at, and I do not push a purchase because a commission is attached to it.

How working together usually goes

  1. 1

You message me on WhatsApp with the situation, in whichever language you prefer.

  2. 2

We talk through what you need and I tell you what is realistic, including the costs you might not have thought about yet.

  3. 3

If you’re looking to buy a property, I’ll start by selecting and sending you options based on your search criteria. I’ll organize the property viewings and accompany you to each one, so we can look at and compare the options together. Once we have found a property you’re interested in, I’ll help with due diligence process, assist you with the negotiation and offer and review the relevant documents with you before anything is signed.

  4. 4

If it is a legal process, I help you understand the steps, the professionals and offices involved, and the documents you need.

  5. 5

I stay reachable after the transaction closes. Most of my work comes from people who came back.

I accompany and advise on legal processes. I am not a notario público and not a licensed attorney; I coordinate with the notarios and lawyers who are.
